20. Brookings – 12 May 2012

The drive to Brookings was long — from Arkansas through Kansas City, through Omaha, then Sioux Falls, and finally arriving very early on race day.

Fortunately, I found a hotel and checked in sometime around 4am. I did have a couple hours sleep before heading to the start line. The front desk was running their nightly report, so they allowed me to check in early for the same day — which meant that after the race I could sleep there until the following morning for one night’s charge. That is the only time I have ever had that happen!

The run was mainly around town and then through the university grounds – pleasant spring weather, a little cool but a nice day. Ran the same time as Iowa.
