5. Tulsa – 21 November 2010

This run was the first one after I had decided to run all 50 states. Tulsa is a relatively short drive from Rogers, Arkansas (where I was living) and it seemed like a good starting place.

For folks who know the Route 66 story, the “mother road” starts in downtown Chicago, Illinois and ends at Santa Monica Pier in California. I have driven a great part of this entire route, but haven’t done the full cross country trip yet — maybe that is next!

Anyway, the run went around various parts of Tulsa and along the Arkansas river. There was a big sign that proclaimed “Route 66” along the way — but only Oklahoma City is mentioned in the Route 66 song.
