New Mexico

38. Albuquerque – 20 April 2013

As part of the Fifty States journey, I organized the US into regions that I could cross off as I completed them. New Mexico was the last race in my Southwest Region.

This was a really nice race. Beautiful sunny spring day. The start line was out in the countryside, and the race went through a lot of scenic Albuquerque areas.

The area is famous for hot air balloons, due to the wide open spaces and climate in the high plains. It was very cool to see the balloons on the way to the start line.

The sunset after the race was wonderful, and having completed my Southwest Region, I decided to get some genuine Southwest cowboy boots at a local boot store.

All in all, Albuquerque was a good run, and a good place to visit. Will definitely go back here on holiday.
